Cancellation policy

To help us keep our waiting lists down and as a courtesy to other patients, we request that you provide a 24 hour notice for any cancellations or change of appointments.

Do I need a referral?

Referrals are required to the Medicare rebate on your consultation or treatment if applicable. However, if you do not wish to claim the Medicare rebate, no referral is required. The current Medicare rebate for an initial consultation is $76.80 and $38.60 on subsequent visits.

Fees

Fees are payable at the time of your consultation. We accept cash, EFTPOS & credit card.

Due to the high cost of providing specialist medical services, we are unable to bulk bill. The initial consultation fee will be quoted when you book your appointment. Any additional procedures such as biopsies, cryotherapy or surgery will incur an additional charge. Most of these procedures will have an associated Medicare rebate.

Once you reach your Medicare Safety Net (https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/medicare-safety-nets?utm_id=9), you may receive up to 80 percent back from Medicare. The Medicare Safety Net threshold amounts (https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/what-are-medicare-safety-nets-thresholds?context=22001) vary from around $720 for pensioners to $2300 for families.

What do I need to bring to the appointment?

A referral if you wish to claim the Medicare rebate.
Medicare card.
Avoid wearing make-up if you are coming for a skin check or concerned about something on your face.

Will I have treatment on the day of my initial consultation?

Biopsies are usually done on the day of your consultation. Unless urgent, surgical procedures are scheduled on a different day as they require extra time to obtain optimal results.
If you are travelling from out of Sydney and require skin cancer surgery done on the same day, please contact our staff well in advance to enquire about this.

In some cases it may not be possible to provide treatment on the same day. Many dermatological problems take time to resolve and may require multiple appointments.

Is there parking onsite?

There is an underground carpark with a lift which will bring you straight to our practice on the second floor. Please note this is paid parking with rates ranging from $7 for the first hour to $16 for a full day.

Medicare claims

If you have registered your bank details with Medicare Australia, we can submit your claim on the day of your appointment if there is a valid referral. Medicare will normally process rebates within 2 business days.

Please note that we cannot check that your bank details are registered with Medicare Australia due to privacy and security reasons. Only you can do this by logging on to your myGov account.

Mail

If you have not registered your bank details or are unsure, you can do this by completing a Medicare claim form (https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/ms014) and mailing it to Medicare along with your original account and receipt.

Medicare Australia can be contacted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 1300 360 460. The Medicare operator will take your claim details and instruct you on how to send in the original account and receipt. This method avoids the need for a claim form.

There is a discount for Aged Pension Card Holders. You will need to bring your pensioner concession card to your initial consultation. This discount does not apply to Health Care Cards or Commonwealth Seniors Health Cards.

Veterans with a DVA Gold Card or White Card with Skin Benefits will have their accounts sent directly to DVA and will not incur any additional charges.

Repeat prescriptions

Our doctors can only issue repeat prescriptions without a consultation if you have been seen in the practice within the last 12 months.  There are some exceptions where more frequent consultations are required.

Overseas Visitors

We welcome overseas visitors. If you are an overseas visitor and do not have an Australian Medicare card, please contact your travel or private health insurer to find out if you are eligible to claim a rebate for your visit. Your account will be payable in full on the day of your consultation.
